ABOUT THIS BOOK

Air cargo is closely linked to international trade whose expansion has been fostered by the removal of physical restrictions and growth of commercial opportunities through improved communications and international contacts. It has benefited from freer transfers of funds, stability of exchange rates and easier access to credit. Above all the reduction and removal of duties has also encouraged the growth in trade, as has the outsourcing of manufacturing to lower cost firms in other countries.

The air cargo industry has directly benefited from the environments created by airline deregulation and further liberalization of international trade agreements. These changes have helped to create a global, interconnected economy where the efficient movement of goods by air is not only convenient for consumers, but critical to today’s business models.

This book has been designed to be accessible and informative and is clearly structured for ease of use. Each of the 16 chapters addresses a different but intrinsically interrelated aspect of commercial air cargo management.
